A LITTLE ABOUT ME
I’VE ALWAYS BEEN
DEEPLY CURIOUS.
My leadership journey did not follow a traditional life path and it has taken me to many places I had not expected. A hallmark of my career has always been to remain curious, and because I am a curious person, I have served in many different capacities and all have brought greater perspective to my work.
At four years old, I decided I wanted to be in theatre. I was told that you could never make a living in the arts...but I did. I was a technician and a performer and eventually owned my own successful theatre company. My love of theatre allowed me to move into education where I was a teacher and then a leader for over two decades. I saw first-hand the systems that prevented adults and students from being successful and I implemented many innovative solutions that produced significant results.
From a young age, I was told I could only love either art or science, but I adore both! This dual passion has taught me how to think outside the box, remain in curiosity, and help find creative solutions to seemingly impossible situations. This distinctive combination enables me to offer a warm and friendly approach to my work, honoring the intricate tapestry of human experience in all its multifaceted beauty. Together, we will embark on a journey that embraces both the science and art of personal and professional growth, unlocking boundless potential along the way.
MY WORK ETHIC MADE ME SUCCESSFUL IN MY CAREER.
Senior leader in the 16th largest school district in the country.
Owner of my own successful theatre company.
Aquired two masters degrees and a doctorate.
Successful consulting and coaching career.
BUT HERE IS MY DIRTY LITTLE SECRET: EVEN AFTER ALL THOSE SUCCESSES, I STILL FELT LIKE AN IMPOSTER.
Despite being a leader, I did not feel like one. My leadership did not look like the other leaders I knew, and I became filled with self-doubt. My leadership was more quiet, more thoughtful, and tended to think outside the box. My purpose was not clear, and I was anything but bold. My personal life collapsed, I left the job I had spent more than a decade growing, and I became paralyzed with doubt and fear.
I FINALLY HAD TO STOP AND TAKE A CLOSE LOOK AT MYSELF AND HOW I HAD ENDED UP HERE.
I came to the profound realization that my need to people-please and strive for perfection prevented me from living a purpose-filled, joyful life. The qualities that had previously enabled me to excel in my professional life no longer served me. They had become shackles, robbing me of my self-assurance, self-value, my marriage, and ultimately, my happiness.
I had to change my way of being. I needed to raise my standards to lead the life I had always imagined but was too afraid to embrace. I knew I had to create an unapologetically bold vision for my future - one where my personal and professional life were integrated. Stepping into my own power was scary and intimidating – but remaining stuck in a life with no purpose was no longer an option. I had to learn I was a different kind of leader than the old model - and that, in fact, was a good thing. Now, my life is radically different. Yours can be too!
